Following their critically acclaimed run of Shakespeare productions,
Classic Stage Ireland now move into the lesser explored area of Ancient Greek Tragedy.

The Bacchae, Euripides last and greatest play, contains some of the most powerful
and unusual scenes in all of ancient drama; and some of the most poetic and terrifying choruses.
Decending on Thebes with his band of female worshippers (the 'Bacchae'), the God Dionysus demands of Pentheus, the young and headstrong king, that he cease to forbid in his city the practice of the God's ecstatic rites.  In the face of Pentheus' increasingly wild and blasphemous defiance, the God finally sets in motion the most shocking ritual of humiliation and destruction suffered by any Greek hero.  Excellent ITM CRITICS REVIEW on this play -Click here to read !

Classic Stage Ireland has assembled its largest cast ever, including a chorus of ten of our finest young actors for this production.A production by Classic Stage Ireland is always worth waiting for.'   Irish Times
